50th AYC Birthday Regatta and Leukemia Cup
For 50 years the Arizona Yacht Club has held an annual regatta celebrating sailing and winter life in the desert. Eleven years ago AYC teamed with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Leukemia Cup Regatta to add an additional purpose to our fun—saving lives! Together, we have raised well over $300,000 for research into cures and support for blood cancer fighters. This year we're grateful to The LLS for providing national spokesman and leukemia survivor Gary Jobson to emcee the event.
2010 Birthday Regatta & Leukemia Cup: Lake Pleasant
Some changes to the schedule of events from past events:
- The Friday Fracas was open to all sailors. One award per fleet. Fleets expected are Viper, Buccaneer 18, Merit 25, Portsmouth, PHRF Spin, PHRF Non-Spin, and Catalina 22.
- Saturday Scrabble Scramble – Lake Cruise and Letter Hunt. Event open to anyone. There was a separate SI and entry for this event.
- Dinner started promptly at 6pm and was served until all dining racers were accounted for.

- Friday Fracas Race– Open to all entries.
- First horn at 1130
- No races started after 1600
- Friday Dinner - Casablanca, food from northern Africa prepared by Chef Rick Johnson and his Culinary Team
- 1730 - Bar Opens – Buccaneers abaft abeam.
- 1830 - First Fork
- Preview auction items
- Live Band
- 1900 – Friday Fracas Awards
- America's Cup 32 DVD ALINGHI – We did it – AGAIN!
Saturday, January 16, 2010
- Pancake breakfast presented by the Lake Pleasant Sailing Club

Fundraising. There are many things you can do to raise money for LLS. To get a fundraising packet, a list of local and national prizes, donate an item for the Saturday evening auction, or learn more about Society programs, please contact Cameron Childs at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in Phoenix at 602.788.8622. Cameron will arrange to set up a fundraising page like this one for you. Send her your name and contact phone numbers and she'll do the rest.
