Event Update by Heather McClain – Event Coordinator

The AYC trip to race America’s Cup boats, in San Diego Harbor, is still on for the weekend of July 18th! Tickets are available, but there are a limited number of spots, so please make your reservations now!  Cost is $125/person for AYC members and $150/person for non-AYC members.

The boats are being sanitized before, during, and after each charter. Everyone will have a temperature check, masks are required, gloves are optional, but recommended. Normally, the two boats can accommodate a maximum of 36 people combined, but we may split into two separate groups so that we can do some semblance of social distancing.

We have arranged lodging on Shelter Island at the Best Western Island Palms. Our pre-COVID group rate is $225 per night, but due to rate fluctuations we suggest checking the hotel’s website or calling to see if they are currently offering a lower rate. Each participant must make their own hotel reservations.  Identify yourself as part of the AYC group when calling: 800-922-2336 or 619-222-0561.

After our sailing adventure, we will have an optional dinner at the Silver Gate Yacht Club, also on Shelter Island.  We have a group yoga class planned in the morning nearby, and a beach bonfire after dinner.  There are also powerboats, wave runners, kayaks, bicycles, and paddle boards available to rent.  And of course, there is the water and beach to enjoy.
