It was Trivia Night on Tuesday, June 11th, 2024 at the monthly membership meeting. Just about 40 people split into six teams to compete in this nautical knowledge challenge. Questions ranged from racing rules of sailing, on-the-water protocols, nautical terms, nautical geography, and nautical movies. (No sea shanties this year – gotta leave something for next year’s trivia challenge.)

The winning team members received Dave & Buster gift cards. From left to right is Pam Neff, Paul Liszewski, Scott Sanders, Chuck Sears, and Jeff Barnes. Congratulations!
Teams were formed using some simple rules: no family members on the same team, and members couldn’t be on the same team as people with whom they regularly sail. So, it proved to be a great opportunity to meet and get to know others in the club. In this, everyone was successful!
The Round 1 questions were designed to help everyone succeed and review some of the basics. Happily, all six teams advanced after the first round. However, the questions got progressively more difficult in Round 2, leaving only two teams in the running. Round 3 led to a definitive winning team.
But wait… The fun wasn’t over. All the teams were having fun being challenged, so everyone opted to continue with the prepared questions. Ultimately, we all learned some new things, reviewed some others, and generally had a great time.
