Camping, Glamping and Day-Trippin’

While some AYC members cooled off by racing in California over the weekend of Aug 16-18, a group of about 50 others beat the heat closer to home in the cool pines of Dairy Springs Campground near Mormon Lake.  Campers, Glampers (cabin dwellers), and day-trippers enjoyed cool, sunny days, and even cooler nights with just enough light rain to make it interesting. Saturday started off on the right foot with a yummy dose of veggies served by the medal-winning Bloody Mary bartenders of Mike and Jo Grijalva. We played  horseshoes and cornhole, rode bikes, played on the slackline, made paracord bracelets, lounged in hammocks, and of course, boated at nearby Lake Mary.

The evening festivities also started off in yummy fashion with the Salsa and Sangria contest!  Winners Melissa Sutton (sangria) and Nathan Botts (salsa) enjoyed the gold medals they received, while everyone enjoyed the fruits of their labor.  The gastro delights continued into the night with the potluck and ended with s’mores including the ultimate gourmet ingredient – bacon!

This year’s participants were varied and included a dozen kids; new members, folks who have been members for 40+ years, and potential members; and a record four families with three generations in attendance!  A great time was had by all! Thanks to Joanne Aspinall for organizing this event!
