Wrapping up the Year with the Tall Cactus Regatta

On Saturday, April 12, we’ll hold our annual Tall Cactus Regatta at Lake Pleasant, so round up your fleet and get registered! This uniquely named regatta is meant for fun and to enjoy a day on the water chasing your friends around in a long-distance race.

The founders of this event envisioned a fun, competitive race that any boat could participate in. They welcomed racers and cruisers, stayed overnight on the water, and valued the opportunity to learn from each other.

How about inviting one or two from our crew list aboard your boat? We have 29 folks just waiting for an opportunity to come sailing and have some good ole fun on the water.

The day will begin with an optional 11:30 Skipper’s Meeting at Spinnaker Point, followed by the warning signal at 1:00 pm. This will be a PHRF long-distance race with two laps around the race course if the wind gods are willing … or one lap around if winds are light.

After the race, join the fun at Spinnaker Point! We’ll end the day with a country cook-out featuring steak or chicken, potatoes, salad, and dessert (soda and water provided … BYOB).

Registration closes Thursday, April 10, so sign up now! Here’s a link to the racing page, which includes the sign-up button. Entry is just 15 bucks, and dinner is $10. Everyone is welcome to come for dinner!
