It’s that time of year again – back to school shopping, school orientations, and nervous kids going to their first day of classes. Do you know what that means? Our racing season is just around the corner!
Nervous about *your* first day (of racing)? Wish there were an orientation for racers? You’re in luck, we have just that coming up on September 12th!
Whether you’re completely new or just looking to brush up on the basics, this class is for you.
Class Details
- When: Saturday, September 12, 9:30am to noon
- Where: Tempe Public Library, 3500 Rural Road, Tempe
- Cost: Just $20
This session is made for beginners—no experience necessary. We’ll cover everything you need to start racing, making things clear, approachable, and fun.
What Will You Learn?
- Rules of the Race: We’ll demystify racing rules, so you feel comfortable on the water.
- Procedures: Learn how races are set up, started, and finished.
- Understanding the Racecourse: From marks to start lines and finishes, we’ll walk you through how a sailboat race works.

Whether you’re a total novice, a casual sailor, or just interested in what makes sailboat racing so fun, this class is for you. Singles, couples, families—everyone’s welcome. Don’t race, but are interested in joining the Race Committee? This is a great first step to getting involved!
