Pre-season Boat Clean-ups

AYC’s Fall Series kicks-off in just a few weeks. It’s time once again to prepare our boats for the upcoming season. We need help with:

  • getting our Tempe Town Lake adopt-a-boat dinghy fleet ready for the new racing season
  • preparing our Lake Pleasant power support boats

Adopt-a-Boat Clean-up:

This coming Saturday (Aug-28) at 8AM, join other members at Tempe Town Lake for Breakfast-in-the-Boatyard (free food!). Then roll-up your sleeves and get to work helping prepare our fleet of Laser and Catalina Capri 14.2 sailboats for the coming race season. Those boats laid dormant all through the summer heat, dust storms, and monsoons – a good cleaning and a few repairs are always needed. Lasers and C-14.2s are available at no cost to AYC members for racing as “adopt-a-boats”.

Pitch in and help! And please bring cleaning supplies – buckets, scrub brushes, and sponges are needed. If you have questions please contact organizer Cindy Pillote: cell / text: 480.206.3379; email: cpillote@gmail.com. See you in the Boatyard!

Powerboat Check-off & Maintenance:

This coming Sunday (Aug-29) at 9AM, meet Lake Captain Dave Newland at the Lake Pleasant Dry Storage Launch Ramp to help with general cleaning and equipment checks for our race support powerboats – the Committee Boat (30-foot pontoon) and Mark-set Boat (23-foot Boston Whaler). We’ll spend time on the water going over both boats and related race equipment to make sure we’re up to snuff for the fast-approaching Fall Race Season. Dave is also willing to bring on a few members if they’d like a re-fresh of boat handling and race day procedures, with emphasis on Mark-Set Boat duties.

Please support this effort – email Dave (dnewland49@msn.com) if you’re available to help.
