Registration is open for the Governor’s Cup long-distance pursuit race, scheduled for Saturday, November 20th.
The entry fee is just $10. First start is 12:30PM, then it’s an afternoon of sailing, completing a lap around the lake before crossing the finish line. The winner gets their name engraved on a ginormous trophy and gets to show it off for the next year (specifics in the NOR!). The rest of us get a nice day zig-zagging on the water.
The Governor’s Cup is one of AYC’s oldest regattas. Last year, we had 47-boats competing – let’s beat that number this year! Our PRO will be Rob Gibbs – he’ll be using his brand new US Sailing “Club Race Officer” certification for the first time! Awards are given for the top-finishing multi-hull, PHRF spin, and PHRF non-spin boats. Rear Commodore Marshall Williamson has arranged for an after-race social at the nearby Wild Horse West biker and boater bar, which is known far and wide their great burgers, chili, and hot dogs. Reminder – they’re old school “cash only”, so bring a few green backs to cover your food and beverages.
