Excitement & Fun Awaits – Don’t Miss Out

Still on the fence about making your reservation for the Commodore’s Celebration? Here are several reasons why you should get online and click that link:

This is MUCH more than a “change of command” ceremony where we welcome our new Commodore and board, it’s a chance to CELEBRATE … to celebrate getting through two tough years and coming out with verve and elan. We’ve weathered the storm of COVID and this is our chance to cheer our successes and fête our outgoing Commodore and her team who led our club through these turbulent waters. It’s a chance to celebrate another year of sailboat racing and cruising Arizona style. It’s a chance to celebrate AYC volunteers who make these events possible through our shared passion for sailing.

Volunteers and leaders make our Yacht Club a success.

The price of the dinner and event has essentially remained unchanged since 2014. You read that right! The price tag gets you exclusive access to a highly rated venue overlooking the greens, an annual event that celebrates our club, our love of the wind and water along with a delicious meal. The cash bar will be ready to serve you a cold Dark & Stormy or sell you a bottle of wine to take to your table. The company, of course, is priceless and you’ll want to join the 60+members and guests already signed up to attend. The dress is “Arizona Casual.” Make of that what you will. Be comfortable.

It’s not just a dinner! The event kicks off with a happy hour to mix and mingle with your fellow sailors and share those “sailing stories” or an upcoming adventure, before we settle in for dinner, awards, appreciations, and the handing over of the helm to our new Commodore.

Four lucky attendees will go home winners!

We have DOOR PRIZES! I don’t want to give away too much here, but there’s a sailor-themed quartet of gifts that attendees will have a chance to claim if they hold the winning ticket.

And we have WORLD CLASS ENTERTAINMENT! Howard Alden (he’s on YouTube AND Spotify) and Mike Gellar will be dazzling us with jazz throughout happy hour, dinner and following the program! It turns out our very own Deb Heisler (yes, the Commodore) met Mike at Lake Pleasant and they sailed together. When she learned he was a musician, she invited him to play for her farewell party and he offered to bring along his famous fellow jazz guitarist!

Jazz Guitarists Mike Gellar and Howard Alden will be playing at the Commodore’s Celebration on
Saturday, May 14, 2022

So what are you waiting for? Click here! Make your reservation! Time is running out and you won’t want to miss any of the excitement, entertainment or fun.
