Great Sailing and Social for Lake Pleasant’s Opening Day!

By Joanne Aspinall

Lake Pleasant racers enjoyed a lovely day of sailing on Saturday, with winds that allowed for four races, including one long-distance race around Horse Island.  Famished after a long, hot day on the lake, racers and a fair share of other AYC members hustled over to Spinnaker Point, where the jukebox was indeed blasting our favorite Jimmy Buffett tunes, and the blender was flowing with ice-cold margaritas.

Parrotheads, sharks and flamingos were seen nibbling chips, salsa and pineapple and sharing their own tales from Margaritaville in anticipation of the main event – which was well worth the wait!  Grillers Rick Johnson, Ed Sheletsky and Marshall Williamson produced a spread fit for a King of Somewhere Hot – grilled veggies, chicken kabobs, steak, pork ribs and salmon!  Talia Scheletsky brought a delicious quinoa salad, beans, and key lime pies that rounded out the meal.

If it’s true that “wrinkles will only go where the smiles have been,” then you may notice a few more lines on some salty sailors after a great Opening Day celebration!
