For the first time in a very long time, there are NO temperatures over 110F in the 10-day forecast! Heck, it even FEELS cooler, if even just a little. Cooler days mean that AYC fall sailing is just weeks away. And so it’s once again time for our annual TTL Fall Boat Clean-up!
Summer is tough on TTL boats. Dirt, dust devils, monsoons, bugs, unrelenting summer sun, intense heat, and those boat-defiling cats. Before we begin our fall sailing, we have lots of work to do … flipping boats, pulling off and washing deck covers, scrubbing down hulls, decks, and cockpits, rigging boats, and making repairs.
We need your help. Please join us for the annual boat clean-up at the Tempe Town Lake boatyard on Saturday morning, September 14. We’ll start at 8am.
We will have snacks and drinks to keep you going. If you can help with this, please email me.
Please click the button below if you can come help out and so we know how many to expect.
Here’s what’s in store. ASU’s 9 FJs – always a feline favorite – were stored upside down all summer. The Arizona Sailing Foundation (ASF) has 10 Capri 14.2s, 12 Optis, 5 O’PEN Skiffs, 3 Sunfish, and 2 Lasers … many of which are being made available to AYC’s Adopt-a-Boat program, all of which need cleaning, fixing, and organizing. Lots of boats and lots of work to do. But, by working together, it goes fast.
Last year, we had over 40 volunteers – AYC members, ASF sailors, and ASU team members all working together, and we were out of there before noon after working on 38 boats.
Help support ASF, the AYC Adopt-a-Boat program, and our Sun Devil sailing team. Get some exercise, and meet your fellow club members.
