November Meeting: Tall Ships & Modern Mariners

Set a course for adventure at our next AYC Monthly Membership Meeting!

Imagine sailing the open seas during the age of tall ships, when magnificent vessels were the backbone of global trade, exploration, and naval power. At our November meeting, AYC Cruising Captain Joe Motil will recapture the drama of that era while connecting it to the sailing experience of today, including the recent AYC trip to Catalina Island aboard the tall ships Exy Johnson and Irving Johnson.

You’ll be transported aboard a classic ship through a salty narrative and vivid imagery. We’ll see if we can transport you back aboard to make ready to lay hands on lines!

So cast yer lines off and make way to Tempe on Tuesday, November 11th at 7 p.m.; doors open at 6 p.m. for socializing and dinner. Don’t forget your “pirate spirit”—and if you have a parrot, bring ’em too!

Guests are welcome!

Location: Dave and Busters in Tempe Marketplace (in the Showroom)
2000 E Rio Salado Pkwy / Suite 1100 / Tempe AZ 85281

Joe Motil at the helm of the Exy Johnson

Joe Motil has been an AYC member since 2006. He was Commodore in 2010 and has kept AYC’s cruising schedule in “ship shape and Bristol fashion” as our Cruising Captain since 2022. As an Arizona native Joe has always been fascinated with water and his interest in tall ships dates back to a childhood fascination with boats of all kinds.

See you there, matey!!
