Announcing Dinghy Days 2024!

Now in its third year, AYC Dinghy Days is scheduled for November 2 and 3 at Lake Pleasant, with practice racing on Friday, November 1. First raced in 2022 with 23-boats sailing in 3-fleets, Dinghy Days participation doubled in 2023 with 47-boats across six (6) fleets. Event organizers David Newland and Gordon Briner have been working on this year’s event for several months, and it’s on-track to be even bigger and better. Eight (8) fleets are expected:  Buccaneer 18, Catalina Capri 14.2, Flying Juniors, Hobie Waves, ILCA / Lasers, MC Scows, Portsmouth, and Sunfish.

Dinghy Days is not only a weekend celebration of small boat racing; but, this year AYC hosts these major class events as part of the regatta:

  • Buccaneers: 2024 Macalpine-Downie/Gibbs Cup Regatta.
  • ILCA / Lasers: District 23 regional championship.
  • Sunfish: US Sunfish Class Association West Region World Champion Qualifier.

If you love the big fun that comes from small boat racing, this is the event for you! Our November weather is perfect for Lake Pleasant sailing and activities ashore, like the Saturday night BBQ dinner (included with registration), socializing, and camping. David and Gordon are also working on a very cool Dinghy Days commemorative shirt.

Already AYC’s second largest on-the-water event after just a few years, let’s make this the biggest and best Dinghy Days ever. Register now!
