To support our racing programs and on-the-water events at Lake Pleasant and Tempe Town Lake, AYC needs certified operators for our club powerboats.

The US Sailing Powerboat Operator certification class is now being offered to any AYC member interested in learning the fundamentals of powerboat operation. The class consists of two (2) evening classes the week of September 6, followed by on-the-water pontoon boat training September 10 or 11, then wrapping up on September 24 with Boston Whaler training at Lake Pleasant. This is an extraordinary opportunity to learn safe powerboat operation from Ed Huntsman and David Newland following the proven US Sailing curriculum. This class would normally cost $500 or more, but is offered to AYC members for FREE. Participants will receive the US Sailing powerboat course book.

Members completing the class are expected to periodically operate our boats during races and regattas. If you want to operate a club boat and don’t yet have certification, this is the place for it!
