Are you seeking some relief from the daily grind, the summer heat, and the depressing news cycle? Take some solace in the fact that the fall racing season is almost here!
Registration is now open for racing at both Tempe Town Lake (TTL) and Lake Pleasant (LP). Are you new to racing or want to move ahead on the race course? Don’t forget our Introduction to Sailboat Racing class on September 12th!
Opening Day is the start of it all – and this year, it’s bigger than ever before!
We start off on September 27th at TTL. The racing will be as hot as the weather, so come cool off with us afterwards at Hundred Mile Brewing for free appetizers. No need to sign up for the after party – just show up!
Then, the main event – the AYC Fall 2026 Opening Day Regatta and Dinner at Lake Pleasant on October 3rd! You don’t even need to be racing to join us! (And if you’re not racing, please consider helping out…keep reading below.)
This is part of the regular season of racing for those who register for the series, but also a weekend regatta for those who can’t sail the rest of the fall series. We’re welcoming out of town guests from around the Southwest. Use the first (green) button to register for the entire season (including Opening Day weekend); and the second (purple) button to sign up for racing just on Oct 3-4 ($25).
Before racing, join us at Spring Canyon from 9-10 am and pour yourself a cup of ambition – we’ll have coffee, pastries, mimosas and the Grijalva’s famous Bloody Marys! Cedric will sound the cannon to start the new season off with a bang. That’s when the traffic starts jumpin’ and it’s off to the races! Racing on Saturday will be from 12:30-4pm.
After racing at about 5:30 pm, join us again in Spring Canyon for the ultimate after-racing feast: Joe and Bonnie Motil are cooking up a seafood boil! We’ll meet our out-of-town guests and swap stories from the day. Dinner tickets are $25 each and can be purchased on the regatta racing registration or here:

Speaking of out-of-town guests, if you’re able to provide housing, or have a RV/camper or tent to loan, we’d greatly appreciate it and you never know – they might be able to return the favor!
