We hosted what seems to be an Annual Trivia Challenge for the April meeting – complete with cash prizes for the winners! Teams were grouped by table and the trivia was put together by your Rear Commodore Joshua McClain with the help of his wife and Cruising Fleet Captain Heather McClain. Questions ranged from questions about the Olympics to questions about our own club. For the full PDF of the questions, Click Here.

All AYC members have now received an invoice for next year’s dues (or non-dues for Life and Honorary Life members) and the membership team hopes you’ll renew right away so we don’t have to send you the increasingly sad and pleading emails. The 2018-2019 dues are payable by July 1.
If you plan not to renew your membership (you know, if you’ve been transferred to Fargo or something), please tell us that too.
Life and Honorary Life members pay no dues, but we need you to update your contact information each year.
Here’s a shot of some of those longtime AYC members, gathered together when former Commodore Joyce Seale visited from her New Zealand home.
To join the national organization, US Sailing, or to renew your US Sailing membership, click here. If you use this link to join or renew US Sailing, you get a lower rate and AYC gets a $10 credit to use for US Sailing materials or training.
US Sailing wants you as a member and it’s offering two incentives for you to join. First, AYC gets a credit toward training materials. Second, you get a one-year subscription to either Sailing World or Cruising World magazine.
For you to get the bonus, you need to use this link. You’ll find a drop-down menu, select Arizona Yacht Club, and continue. The bonus is good for either a renewal or new membership in our national sailing organization. Deadline for signing is July 31.
Commodore Peter Lehrach greeted the new AYC members at the October meeting, including the ones in these shots. Each new member receives a roster, a card, and a burgee.
The club bylaws require that we post the names of people who haven’t renewed their memberships by now. AYC’s membership year runs from July 1 to June 30 and your dues are to be paid by the end of July. If you haven’t paid by October 1, you’re dropped from membership.
Before then, we’ll publish the roster and if you don’t pay, you’ll miss out on being listed.
And here are the junior members who haven’t paid to renew and are now delinquent: Spenser Branch, Madison Cordova, Kristian Doak, Luke Marino, and Andre Parmentier.
If you have any trouble renewing or if you don’t plan to renew your membership, please contact Mike Ferring.
The renewal rate for AYC members is very good this year, but there are still a few of you who haven’t come through. If you haven’t renewed, here’s the link to do it.
The AYC bylaws require us to post delinquent members by mid-August and to drop them from membership at the end of September. So here’s the list of people who have not renewed. We are not posting the names of people who have told us they don’t intend to renew.
Bernie & Judie Armstrong, Marc & Anastasia Danner, Bill Dingwell, Bill Feil, Bill Hardy, Matthew & Thomas Jacobs, Charles Kaye, Travis Kenyon, Chalz & Wanjeri Kirubi, Rick & Lisa Lake, Larry Lowe, Kent & Sheri Maas, Luke Marino, Cooper Miller, Mary & Jeffrey Miller, Tara Odman, Katie Runnels, Steve Swanson, Ed Triebel, Richard Warren, Wieslaw & Grazyna Wojczak.
For the few people who haven’t renewed membership for the coming year, your dues are due. The club bylaws require us to post the names of delinquent members by August 15 and suspend all privileges at the end of August. More to the point, we’d like you to continue with us and we’d like to be sure to include your name in the club roster.
The link will take you to our new online registration system called RegOnline. We think you’ll find it easier to use (and it’s much easier to administer). One neat trick: We have a link on the racing page of the website that will show you all the people signed up for an event as they register.
Because of the new system, we’ll need you to re-enter some of your account information, such as your boats or your kids’ names and ages. When you first go to the site, it will ask to send you an email to confirm who you are. When you click on the link in the email, it will return you to the RegOnline site with basic address and phone number information already entered. Just finish it up, pay, and enjoy another year of AYC.
