The nonprofit Arizona Sailing Foundation offers sailing classes for high school students throughout the school year.
The spring High School Sailing class begins the afternoon of January 15 and continues each Tuesday through March 26.
The High School Championship Regatta was Saturday, May 5, 2018. Read about it here.
Slam those school books closed and head for the lake! Spend Tuesday blasting around the lake and racing around the buoys!
Build Skill and Confidence. Each session begins with a short on-shore discussion followed by plenty of on-the-water-training.
If you know how to sail, we’ll help you learn to sail faster and coach you on how to win sailboat races. If you don’t know how to sail, we’ll bring you up to speed. Along the way you’ll learn about boat handling, safety, right-of-way, and docking. Mostly you’ll have a good time on the water.
Schedule: Tuesday afternoons 4-6:30 pm (or dark), meeting at the Tempe Town Lake grassy knoll. High School Sailing includes both Junior and Senior High School students from any school. In fact, Instructor Mike Parker says anyone from sixth grade through 12th is welcome.
Cost: $225. Maximum class size = 20. Students provide their own PFDs.
