Celebrate Labor Day Weekend on a Cruise to Catalina

Submitted by Emory Heisler

With the cruising events filling up, another one has been added! As usual, this is a shared expense charter cruise to Catalina Island. 20+ year AYC member Emory Heisler is organizing this trip aboard S/V Avalon, a DuFour 375. Two cabins are available for three days and three nights.

The trip will depart Friday morning, 9/1/2023, from Rainbow Marina, Long Beach, bound for Two Harbors, Catalina Island. Friday and Saturday nights will be “on a ball” at Two Harbors, with day sailing and island adventuring options available for Saturday. Special events at Two Harbors that weekend include the 36th annual Jimmy Walker “Buffalo Chip” toss on Saturday, September 2nd. Whoop! Sunday, SV Avalon and crew will sail back to Rainbow Marina, where available onboard overnight accommodations will make for a leisurely drive home to AZ on Labor Day.

All charter costs will be shared equally by the number of people aboard (including the skipper): boat charter, moorings, provisions, etc. A good estimate is about $500 per person, but incidentals are on you, i.e., shore boat, onshore bar and food bills, rentals, souvenirs, etc. Again shared cost will depend on provisioning choices and how many sailors join the trip (maximum of 5). AYC members get priority booking!
